For the second straight game, the John Melvin University basketball team has set a program record for points in a game. The Millers hosted Mississippi Christian College at home on Monday night and ran away with a game that was never in question. The first half ended with JMU leading 58-19, and the lead continued to grow throughout the second half, with JMU ultimately winning the game 114-66.
Freshman guard Tayshaun Colomb led the way in scoring with 18 points and four assists. Walter Boyd III added 14 points off the bench with four big 3's. Kyan Shannon had his biggest game of the season with five blocked shots and six points in just ten minutes of game time.
The team's fast-paced and hard-working style of play made the difference in this game, picking up 19 offensive rebounds, 20 steals, and 10 blocked shots.
The Millers return to action on Wednesday night against Baton Rouge CC. The game will be at BONNE SANTE WELLNESS CENTER in Baton Rouge at 7:00pm. The Millers last home game of 2024 before the new year will Friday night against the Louisiana Knights.
