It's ring season in Crowley, Louisiana! After winning the Kingdom Cup and winning the NSAC regular season, the John Melvin University Millers made the trip out to Wilson, North Carolina and historic Flemming Stadium for the 2025 New South Athletic Conference Championship. The Millers were the number 1 seed in the tournament after putting together a 15-2 conference record this season.

The Millers first matchup of the tournament was agaisnt the Virginia State Trojans. Junior pitcher Bryce Oquinn took the mound for the Millers in the programs first ever postseason game. Oquinn picked up his 5th win of the season, throwing five innings and allowing just four hits. Senior pitcher Willy Flynn threw the final two innings of the game, striking out two and allowing zero earned runs. Senior Noah Watkins and Sophomore Eli Musgraves led the Millers offense with three hits each, Sammy Maddox also contributed three RBI's to the winning effort. Andrew Ashby, JT Teuton, and Taylor Walters all hit doubles in the game.

The semi-final matchup with defending conference champion and USCAA #3 team Apprentice was a game that won't be forgotten. Down 7-0 in the second inning, the Millers championship hopes were dwindling. The JMU bullpen stepped up and kept the Millers in the game. Senior pitcher Troy Morel righted the ship and threw 2.2 innings, allowing just one earned run. Sophomore Cooper Chase followed that performance with 1.2 hitless and scoreless innings of his own. Caleb Ougel picked up his 6th win of the season after pitching the 7th inning and the Miller offense hitting a walkoff. Doubles by Andrew Ashby and Connor Pleasant and a home run by Taylor Walters kept the Millers in the game and led to the comeback. Sophomore Sammy Maddox hit a 3-run no doubter with two outs in the 6th to make it a one run ball game. The Millers loaded the bases with a walk from Andrew Ashby, a hit by pitcher from Taylor Walters, and another hit by pitch from JT Teuton. The Millers baserunners scored two runs on the same wild pitch to take the lead in the 6th inning. After Apprentice tied the game and back-to-back strikeouts to start the bottom of the 7th inning, it looked like the semi-final matchup was headed for extra innings with a spot in the conference championship game on the line. Connor Pleasant worked a walk with two outs to give the Millers a baserunner and bring First Team All-Conference member Trevor Durr to the plate. On a 2-1 count, Durr drove a fastball to the opposite field fence, scoring Pleasant from first base and sending JMU to the conference championship game.

JMU flexed it's power and depth in the championship game, once again facing Virginia State. Sophomore Garrett Walker started the game for the Millers and was masterful; throwing five innings, allowing just 1 earned run on two hits, and striking out eight Trojan batters. Freshman Brian Ellendar pitched the 6th inning for the Millers, striking out one and not allowing a baserunner. Freshman Bebe King closed the game out for the Millers, striking out two and again, not allowing a baserunner. Eight different Millers picked up a hit in the championship game, with Gavin Walker, Lane Kratzer, Trevor Durr, and Taylor Walters hitting doubles in the game, and Connor Pleasant, JT Teuton, and Trevor Durr hitting home runs in the game. After a groundout to Senior Zayne Earl collected the 21st out of the championship game, the dogpile commenced and the Millers were Conference Champions!
