The John Melvin University basketball team took their first conference loss on Saturday as the Millers' high-flying offense couldn't keep pace with conference opponent Lighthouse Christian College. The Millers dropped the game 111-97 in large part to the heroics of Lighthouse guard Brown (#11) who hit 8 threes and scored 32 points in the victory. The Millers were once again led by the all-out effort of Tayshaun Colomb. The 5'6 freshman guard scored 29 points while picking up 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals. Colomb is currently 2nd in the USCAA in steals per game with 4.2.
The Millers hit the road Monday for a matchup with Dallas Christian College in Farmers Branch, Texas. Dallas Christian is currently 0-9 on the season with losses against D1 Northwestern State University and D1 Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Following the matchup with Dallas Christian, John Melvin will be headed to Natchitoches for their own matchup with D1 Northwestern State University. This will be the first match-up with a D1 program in school history, and the game will be live on ESPN+ at 6:30 on Tuesday, November 19th. Northwestern State is currently 1-3 on the season, with their lone win coming in their season opener against Dallas Christian College.
