Crowley - The John Melvin University Millers are off to a hot start on the hardwood and much of that can be attributed to the play of Rayne native Tayshaun Colomb.
Through four games, the 5-foot-6 freshman guard is averaging 19.8 points and 4.5 steals. He posted a career-high 34 points against NCAA Division II Southern University at New Orleans last week in a 98-90 loss and added 15 points over the weekend in a 99-49 victory over Southeast Christian in the New South Athletic Conference Tournament opener. Those numbers were good enough to earn Colomb the NSAC Player of the Week honors, the first given out by the conference this season.
The Millers are currently 3-1 with victories over Louisiana Community Christian, Southeast Christian, and most recently, a 78-75 win over Florida College last Thursday.
The Millers return to action Saturday with a road game at Rust College in Mississippi before hosting Lighthouse Christian College on Saturday, Nov. 16.
