The John Melvin University basketball team completed the back half of their Florida road trip on Thursday with a matchup against Florida College in Temple Terrace. Florida College jumped out to a 10-point lead at halftime and had the largest lead of the game with a 24-point lead. The Millers were able to erase the Florida College lead and came back to win the game 78-75.
The dual sport Freshman Jace Gailey had another incredible performance for the Millers. Gailey, now in a starting role, picked up 16 points and an astounding 30 total rebounds in the winning effort. Gailey continues to grow his national lead in both rebounds and blocks.
JMU leaned on their starters in the game, with Richard Casler Jr playing 39 minutes, Jace Gailey playing 38 minutes, and Kaimauri Hodges playing 37 of a possible 40 minutes in the game. Hodges led the team with 19 points while picking up 10 rebounds and 3 steals in the game.
The Millers close out the month of October, sitting in first place in the NSAC conference standings and in first place in the national USCAA standings. The Millers will get some well-earned rest this week and will next take the court on Saturday, November 9th, @ Rust College.
