John Melvin University met Centenary College for their final home game of their inaugural football season, in a rematch from a month prior when the Gents defeated the Millers 57-0 in Shreveport. This time, Centenary had to travel down to Crowley and play at Gardner Memorial Stadium. The game began with a familiar scene, with 11:04 on the clock in the first quarter, Miller Quarterback Tavan Minix was sacked in the endzone, putting the Gents up 2-0. That was the score at the end of the first quarter in the previous contest. The score would change a few minutes later, as Centenary's Devin Ardoin scored on a 1 yard run with 8:24 left in the first and Russell Skipper Jr's extra point put the Gents up 9-0. Things began to look bleak when Centenary Quarterback Jalen Robinson had a 6 yard touchdown to make it 16-0 with 4:38 left in the first. The defense came through though and halted the scoring all the way til 8:57 in the 3rd quarter when Robinson scored again, this time on a 15 yard touchdown pass to Isaiah King, which put Centenary up 23-0. With under 2 minutes left in the third quarter, John Melvin University got to Robinson on back to back plays, Robinson was sacked on second down by Millers Defensive End Timerick Bush forcing a third and very long. A play later and Robinson found himself being dragged down from behind by Millers Linebacker Jamarcus Monroe, resulting in a fumble. Timerick Bush was right there to scoop it up and take it 62 yards for the first Millers Touchdown since Week 1. John Melvin went for a two point conversion but it was unsuccessful. No more points were scored by either side, resulting in a final score of 23-6. Wide Receiver Obadiah Butler was a huge focal point of the offense, getting serious run in the backfield, even splitting the carries with Running Back Marlon Freeney. The two formed a pretty formidable Thunder and Lightning duo, accounting for nearly all of the offensive yardage. Quarterback Tavan Minix added the rest of the yardage using his legs to his advantage as well.

Centenary improved to 5-0 on the season in the victory.

John Melvin fell to 2-4 on the season, and will play Lyon College in Batesville, AR on Saturday, October 21st, and will take on Louisiana Christian University on November 4th for their final game of the season.
